Introduction
The Lokheed Lodestar has had an fascination for me from the earliest days of my interest in aviation. This picture in the book 86 Flugzeugtypen (86 Types of Aircraft) [1] I received at about the age of 12 never got out of my mind and the Lodestar always had a sort of mystique for me. Ernest Gann´s description of two transfer flights from USA to Rio mde Janiero [1] (p116-152 Chapter VII Gypsies) fits exactly in the atmoshere the plane has for me.
