The Lokheed Lodestar had a fascination for me from the earliest days of my interest in aviation. This picture in the book 86 Flugzeugtypen (86 Types of Aircraft) [1] I received at about the age of 12 never got out of my mind and the Lodestar always had a sort of mystique for me. Ernest Gannīs description of two ferry flights from USA to Rio de Janiero describes exactly the atmoshere the plane has for me ( [3] p116-152 Chapter VII Gypsies).
