Quoted from the entry to Aerocar Inc.in Jane´s All the World´s Aircraft 1979-80 :

" No further production of this model [Aerocar] is planned, but development of the Aerocar has continued. The prototype of a refined Model III Aerocar was built and many changes have been made to the hand-built Model Is, enhancing both the flight performance and the road operation.

It seemed for a number of years that any Aerocar able to conform with current and projected US government safety and environmental requirements for automobiles would be so heavy and expensive that it could be neither practical nor economical There have been indications that the concerned government agencies might be willing to relax for vehicles of this kind the regulations which govern the operation of automobiles However, even if such relaxation became law, the problem of finding suitable production capital for such a major programme would remain to be solved.
